Fashion week favorite 'Burberry' have returned to Milan with yet another fantastic season. This time it's all about coats. Appropriate for the weather that the U.K is currently having, and appropriate for us, the voyeurs of the fashion world. Last night we were treated to a live showing of the Prorsum line. Twitter and Facebook were abuzz with comments and 'retweets' reminding fellow fans to catch the webcast. And to Baily's clever foresight, they did!
In addition to the show itself, it wasn't so much the show opener photographed above that made a stirring in the blogosphere-- but the oversized thermal coats with reverse padding and leather strap detailing.
As the press release states, last nights show was in fact 'a parade of coats', a salute to our heritage.
With a heavy military influence Bailey designed not only long oversized garments but included a few cropped military pieces in a similar style. Including items of colour-- mustard, melange greys, moss green and natural whites. I'm sure Anna Wintour would be pleased.
This is my favorite jacket of the season collection.
And then it was this piece that I believe ended the show. It appeals to me beyond the aesthetic, it's obviously a beautiful piece, and it includes a collection of buttons on the lower sleeve.
Very much in theme with the studs that have been appearing in collections like Givenchy of late. Was this Christopher Bailey's way of rebelling, giving his own version of the trend? Either way it was a fantastic piece that ended off another fantastic show!
