She has two children Sneha and Nagarjun with her actor husband.
By 2007, she has directed five serials, of which she considers "Viduthalai" the best serial as it was acted by Radhika. She has also directed four films, two in Tamil and two in Kannada. She still continues to act in films like "Anandam" and "Imsai Arasigal.".

She first faced the camera on November 19, 1973 for the film "Murugan Kaattiya Vazhi" directed by P. Madhavan. Her first shot went off smoothly. The director and a few people who saw the rushes were happy. One among them was actor Sivakumar, who predicted that she would turn to be a big star, which she later became.
