WISHLIST: BUTTERO SANDALS

Nicknamed "The Jesus Sandal" the strappy men's sandal has become the new staple. With plastic flip-flops the look will always lean towards a lazier and casual look. That said I own Havaiana's and wear them proudly, but a leather strapped sandal can transform what would be a Saturday morning Woodstock stroll in shorts and a tee, to a more evolved version. Team it with shorts or jeans and try it with a light shirt instead. The above boot is on my coveted list and is from the Buttero Spring/Summer 2011 look book.

WISHLIST: AGE YOUR OWN WHISKEY!

I figure the day I became a real man was the day I enjoyed my first glass of whiskey. I come from a lineage of whiskey drinkers but didn't fully appreciate it until my blogs 2nd birthday party last year. Now I have stumbled upon a new label that challenges the original code of how whiskey should look and taste (white whiskey from Kentucky Washington), and they also offer an accompanying kit that lets you age your own whiskey! Too cool. Take a look at their website here.

HERMES RELEASE THEIR OWN IPAD COVER

Photobucket
I am all about simplicity. Hermès, while being one of the oldest and classiest brands, has managed to join 2011 in their own way. An iPad cover in Hermès orange, as is, and it's perfect. "The iPad envelope is made of two layers of Swift clalfskin, hand saddle-stitched over a layer of padding to protect the tresrure within" Now all I need is an iPad. Anyone?

WISHLIST: D&G SUNGLASSES

Photobucket
I stumbled upon these sunglasses recently. I'm all for natural shapes for men so it surprised me how much I loved these once I tried them on. Apart from my matte black wayfarers from Sunglass Hut I don't really wear black. If you're not careful in choosing the right size for your face you can look as if you're pulling inspiration from the Terminator. Proportion is key. Ask a sales assistant from Sunglass Hut about styles for your face shape until you find the perfect pair.

As for me, these D&G sunnies (DG8076) which only go for R1750 will in all likelihood find their way into my shirt pocket before long.

Marc Jacobs quilted high-tops

Photobucket

Following a legion of design houses releasing high-top sneakers (Vuitton and Gucci just to name two) Marc Jacobs has released his own version. I think out of all that I've seen these are the nicest and most understated. Certainly a pair that would look great however you wore it. The neon straps from Vuitton, however nice are limiting.

Photobucket

In fact, Marc Jacobs has a history with the quilted effect as it carries into his menswear from the very popular quilted bags he designs for ladies-wear. The burgandy/blood red high tops were available last year for $600 but I imagine like those, the new ones will sell out fast too. They are however just a preview so keep your eyes peeled for a release date.

Marc Jacobs Biker Jacket. Fantastic leather quality and zippage! So although I would very much love to own this beauty I don't think it's even available anymore. Nieman Marcus are sold out. And let's be real, it probably costs $3000 or more!

Givenchy Gladiator studded shoes

Remember these Pierre Hardy shoes I coveted last year? Well it seems that Givenchy have gone and put their own spin on this shoe as seen on JakandJil. The studded shoe is making big waves on the fashion scene with jackets and shoes and even denim and so it's not a big surprise that men got in on it too. And it's so high-fashion one wonders just who will wear it?

Riccardo Tisci’ s S/S 10 collection was a “homage to Michael Jackson”. Before you roll your eyes, Tisci had been commissioned by Jackson’s ‘people’ to design (and one would imagine have finished) the costumes for Jackson’s up coming concert dates in London

I definitely would. Wishlist, anyone?

The Coveted: Cameron Foden

I discovered this FANTASTIC jacket on photographer Brett Rubins blog this morning and now am determined to get hold of it. The designer is Cameron Foden who currently resides in Antwerp, Belguim. He's a local Capetownian doing wonderful things in menswear-- which is why he's on Man of the Cloth. He recently took part in an exhibition at Whatiftheworld, called the Samson Syndrome which can be seen here.

The Coveted: Rag and Bone

Photobucket

Similar to that which was made famous by Jimi Hendrix all those years ago, the Military style in menswear joins us once more. This gorgeous grey jacket with slanted multi-buttoning and military pin was unveiled at the Rag and Bone show in NYCFW on September 11th 2009. In Wainwrights own words 'The more structured the top, the more casual the bottom' which is a great approach to dressing oneself with beautiful jackets or statement pieces.

Take a look at this and other shows here!

I know it's freezing cold in Cape Town but I still can't help but look at Sandals online. Even today, with Winter well upon us, it's Sunny outside, so while I won't be donning my pink swim trunks from Paul Smith, I can somewhere in jeans and sandals! These from Tim Hamilton are $550. Yikes, but still beautiful. If you're looking to buy yourself a pair (for me, of course) then go here!
