Vasundhara Das is an Indian actress and a singer.
PERSONAL
Vasundhara Das was born in the year 1977 in Bengalooru and is from a Tamil Brahmin-Iyengar family. She finished her schooling from All Girls Convent High School graduated in Economics and Mathematics from Mount Carmel College.
Vasundhara is a classically trained singer and is learning music since the age of six and was part of an all girls band and plays Flamenco strums on guitar.
Roberto Narain, one famous musician and Vasundhara were going around for a few years. She has performed in concerts all around the world.
PROFESSIONAL
Vasundhara Das' first movie was Hey Ram where she was seen opposite to Kamal Hasan and was also offered a role by Mani Ratnam in his movie Alaipayuthey. She has done a Malyalam movie Ravanaprabhu with Mohanlal and was there in the Tamil movie Citizen opposite Ajith.
She has done a couple of Hindi movies also like Pathar Bezubaan [2004], Kudiyon Ka Hai Zamaana [2005], Filmstar [2003], Monsoon Wedding [2000], Ek Dastak [2005] and Ugly Aur Pagli [2008]. Apart from this, she has also worked in some of the Tamil and Malyalam movies.
She is a very good singer, and has sung a lot of French, English, Kannada, Tamil, Hindi and Telugu songs. She and Roberto Narain have formed a band named Arya and focussing on World Music as it comprises musicians from all over the world ranging from Jazz, Latin, Rock, Pop, Hindustani and Carnatic classical music. In 2003 their band played at Spain in a very famous festival called La Mar de Musicas.
She has sung one song in the movie Lagaan for the British character and has also sung a song for the Tamil movie Dhanush. She mostly sings for actress Preity Zinta.
